Meet Sarah Niecko

Sarah has a Bachelors in Psychology from Michigan State University, a Masters of Science in Medicine from Western Michigan University, and a Doctorate of Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University.

 

She spent 17 years practicing behavioral medicine before transitioning full-time into academia in 2019. Since then, she has been an assistant professor of Behavioral Health Sciences at the University of Alaska Southeast where she teaches behavioral health and lifestyle medicine courses. She is a Duke trained Health and Wellness Coach, a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) and a certified instructor for HeartMath, Mental Health First Aid, QPR Suicide Prevention, and Basic Life Support.

 

She also has certificates in Integrative Behavioral Health and Primary Care and Integrative Mental Health and Nutrition.

 

When she's not working, Sarah enjoys running the numerous Juneau trails, gardening, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys relief work and has been on numerous international medical trips of various lengths working with underserved populations in Haiti, Nepal, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.
