Meet Ian Niecko
As a counseling psychologist, my educational background, training, and experience (including ten years in community behavioral health) in whole person health has set me a unique path that has culminated in beginning this practice. Those who want to establish a body, mind, and heart connection will benefit most by working with me. I am well versed in treating various types and spectrums of trauma and dissociative disorders, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attentional problems, addiction, spiritual/religious issues, and relationship and family conflict. Ultimately, this has allowed me to create a dynamic therapeutic toolbox that can be personally designed around your needs and goals.

My educational training includes a bachelors of science in education from Central Michigan University, a masters of Divinity and masters of biblical literature from Oral Roberts University, and a doctorate of counseling psychology from Alaska Pacific University.
I am a certified Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) counselor (2019) and a certified EMDR consultant (2023) . EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for a variety of disorders. I'm also trained in another trauma-focused therapy called Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR level 2) which targets brainstem and sub-cortical levels of the brain to bring relief. Additionally, I am certified in complex trauma and dissociative disorders through the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation (ISST-D), a certified Heart Math (biofeedback) practitioner and a BCIA board certified Neurofeedback (BCN) specialist.

When I’m not working, I enjoy all kinds of physical activities; e.g. running, cross-training, and hiking the beautiful trails in Juneau, exploring new and traditional ways to feel, grow, and be healthy. I enjoy solitude, reading (primarily spiritual/religious literature, history, and mysteries around existence) on kindle or paper, ripping a few Lord of the Ring’s quotes, a quality ‘cuppa’ of tea or coffee, either alone or in good company. I am a "certified cat dad" (3 cats!) who also enjoys a good sense of humor and just hanging out and being silly with my best friend and wife Sarah.
